One of the traditional yet still great forms of dog beds is the donut dog bed. There’s a reason this design has been around for quite some time. In fact, the donut dog bed is often chosen over some of the newer dog bed styles because it still has much to offer. Even though it’s an older concept, there are things it does well.
Donut dog beds are easy to put together and take apart. The soft, plump padding around the bottom of the bed gives your dog something to use as a pillow. This helps make the bed that much more attractive to your canine. It will also keep your dog off of your pillows and in their own bed, which his nice for you.
The bottom cushion of this dog bed is designed to be as inviting as possibly while still being strong enough to support your dog. One of the great features here is that you can take off the outside padded ring and take the bottom pad with you wherever you go. In fact, if you’re planning to go on a road trip with your canine friend, this pad makes a great car bed for those long drives.
Another great use for this pad is for those times that you have to put your dog in a crate. Crates tend to not be padded at all, so placing the bottom part of your donut dog bed inside the crate adds a lot of comfort to it. Once you return home or can let your dog out of the crate, it doesn’t take much to reattach the top ring and recreate your dog’s favorite napping spot. This ability is one of the best features of the donut dog bed and essentially gives you two beds in one.
When looking into what type of bed you are planning on purchasing for your dog, you should know that donut dog beds are extremely durable. These pads have been made in a way that allows them to be disassembled and washed repeatedly. So, even if there are accidents, you can rest assured in knowing that your canine ’s favorite sleeping spot can easily be cleaned.
The actual material the donut dog bed is made out of is something else you want to think about when you buy one. Some, materials like wool, are much more durable and can handle a dog chewing on it or clawing it. Others, like microfiber, are very soft and might be better for an older dog. Then there’s leather, flannel, and more. Think about which of these is best for your dog before buying the bed.
Think about size, too. Donut dog beds come in a number of different sizes, and obviously a Chihuahua isn’t going to need the same size as a German Shepard. But think about the age of your dog for a moment. A German Shepard puppy doesn’t look that big, but they will grow quickly. Take this into effect before buying your donut dog bed.
Because the donut dog bed is one of the most purchased, companies make them in a variety of colors and designs. While your dog isn’t going to care much about this, you might. You can find a color that matches your dog’s fur or one that matches with your established bedroom or home decor. It’s all up to you.
As you can see, the donut dog bed has a variety of great things about it. It’s soft and comfortable for your dog, it’s sturdy and washable, and can be split into two parts as needed. This dog bed is one of the older dog bed designs, but don’t automatically assume that newer designs are better. This one has been around for quite some time, and as you can see, there are reasons for its popularity.
