The cute attitude of the Pomeranian makes it a great asset within the home and to further enhance the experience of having a Pomeranian at home, it is essential to consider Pomeranian training and more particularly potty training. Along with its small size and courageousness, the Pomeranian is also an excellent watchdog. Even though it learns things easily and can be trained, when it comes to housebreaking it is not the quickest learner.

Thus, there is a great need to first of all get it to learn where to go. In order to get started with Pomeranian potty training it will help to give it its own playpen where it can be fed and given water as well as allowed to sleep in a comfortable bed. Then, whenever your Pom wakes up in the morning it should be taken out and shown where to eliminate.

Still, you also need to know how to handle accidents when they occur, as this is a good time in Pomeranian training to exercise patience and perseverance with the potty training. In any case, you should not strike him or rub his nose in the mess as that will only make him fearful and not properly potty trained.

Sometimes, your Pomeranian potty training will require that you have to take the puppy out to the potty area in a hurry, or you may need to clean up the mess he has created so that no smell lingers. For better results as far as potty training goes, you may want to use products that smell just like urine and all you then need to do in order to reinforce the training is to place one of these where you want it to do its potty. When the Pomeranian smells the urine, he can immediately associate it with his training and thus will become potty trained in a simple though effective manner.

Another notable feature of proper Pomeranian potty training is that you should never strike your Pomeranian even if it is caught pooping in the wrong place. It is much better to clap loudly and make a negative sound, which your Pomeranian will be able to associate with having done something wrong. Your voice and the clapping sound should make it realize the error, and should not repeat the action again.

Pomeranian potty training is not a very difficult task provided you approach it with the right frame of mind and also get your pet started out on learning and being given the proper training as soon as he becomes a member of your family.

Also, there will be many instances when you catch him in the act of making a mess where he shouldn’t and at such times you need to remember that you should not rub its nose in the mess or use any physical reprimand because that is not the right way to go about potty training.

Also, puppies cannot associate what they did a few seconds after the event, and thus if you are late by more than three or four seconds after he has pooped, there is no point in scolding him because it will not make any sense to him what you are going on about. It is much better to just clean up the mess completely and continuing with your positive reinforcement training.
