Any dog owner knows how difficult it is to walk a dog that pulls on the leash or simply refuses to walk. While basic dog training for any breed should involve lead training, the larger breeds in particular need to learn this as puppies. There’s nothing more unpleasant than trying to take your Husky or German Shepherd out for an evening stroll and having them fight the lead all the way.
With that in mind, here are five tips to make lead training your dog a little easier . 1.Start young. It’s far easier to start with puppy training in Toronto than it is to teach an older dog not to pull on the leash. While not impossible, it’s best to start out with a young dog that hasn’t yet picked up any bad habits. You can easily accustom a young puppy to the lead and he will be happy to treat it with respect for the rest of his life, but the trick is not to wait too long.

Most view cats as docile, peaceful and quiet creatures. It is an assumption by many that as long as a cat has a good place to rest, has clean drinking water, and food that it is all that is needed to create a docile, loving, yet independent cat.
Not all cats are wired this way. Individual cats have varying personalities, just like people do. While one cat might be cuddly and laid back, another cat might be so high strung that the owners miss out on sleep at night because the cat is constantly bouncing off the walls. As long as the personality quirks of each cat are acceptable to the owners, there isn’t a problem about differing personalities among cats.
The one personality trait that does not go over very well is when the cat has aggressive tendencies. With dogs it can be more acceptable since dogs have the reputation of protection, but an aggressive cat is not something most people are looking for.

These days most veterinarians are recommending that dogs wear harnesses instead of collars. Harnesses are better for most dogs; they’re easier on the dog’s neck and back. Harnesses come in a multitude of styles, there is one for every dog, whether your dog is an escape artist, a puller, a bunny-chaser, or has medical issues. Not every harness is good for every dog, but there is an appropriate style for every dog.
To find a correct dog harness for your dog you should first measure him/her properly. Manufacturers don’t make dog gear by breed or weight - they use measurements. Girth is the most significant number. Take a tape measure and wrap it all the way around your dog’s chest, just at the back her front legs. If she’ll let you - leave it there for a moment to make sure she’s not “gasping” out her ribs and tighten it up if you feel it slacken. You must be able to get a finger or two between the tape measure and your dog, but that’s all. If she wiggles too much, just come back a couple more times and try it once more.
