Black-footed Ferrets are available to purchase at your local pet store or stock breeder, also you might be able to acquire one at a animal shelter. Because they live such a long life just like a cat or dog, it is important that you know how to care for them and keep them healthy, happy pets.

First, ferrets are nocturnal animals that rest during the day. When they wake up, you should not just tap the cage or look at them but rather let them come out so they can run around and play. When this occurs, make sure that all electric cords are secure, small items are hidden and there are no small spaces that they can squeeze into. This will prevent them from getting lost or getting a injury.

These mammals live on strict diet and you should be well aware that they are carnivores. This means they can only be fed meat or poultry products as they require a lot of protein. There are black-footed ferret food products in the market so you best stock up to avoid the mistake of settling with cat food instead.
