Arthritis is a general term for abnormal changes to a joint. Arthritis can occur when joint tissue is damaged from an infection, from congenital defects that affect the structural integrity and from stress and trauma to joint surfaces and supporting structures.

The nerve endings are the ones mostly affected, and this aggravates the pain in the ill dog. The end result is that the once frisky dog will not be as frisky or as playful as before.

There are number of causes contribute to the arthritis in dogs. These causes are diseases like Cancer might also give birth to various arthritic problems; improper bone development in young dogs may give birth to arthritis; in some dogs, the disease may be genetically transferred; metabolic disorders and other hormonal problems lead to arthritis.

Positive Dog Training Techniques

by Lee Dobbins

When training one’s dog there are some particular details which should be remembered. Using positive dog training methods is the best way to get your dog trained in a fun and efficient manner. This means that you should reward your dog for positive behavior instead of punishing him for negative behavior.

That does not mean that you should never scold your dog. While this training method needs a positive manner, there are some times where you must be stern. Just do not scold your dog too much, because you will get a better response for positive reinforcement. It is an important thing to realize when you should praise your dog.

Give your dog a little treat any time he does what he is supposed to. Whether he stays when you tell him to, relieves himself in the correct manner, or follows any other command, be sure to praise him with a reward!
