Every dog has moments where he might turn tail and run or get too interested in something he shouldn’t, this is where a collar and leash come in handy, although it might seem a bit mean to have to restrain him.

In order to make a dog learn to match his pace with yours, a leash and collar are invaluable tools in dog obedience.

Old fashioned collars and leashes only fit around the neck, meaning that your dog’s windpipe is constricted when he tries to lunge away.

Damage can be caused by the choke chain too as the shackles encircle the neck - remember those from the nineties?

Choking isn’t a nice feeling for anyone, least of all a dog, and it’s good to remember that this feeling may inhibit his potential to learn properly. Thank heavens then for this next item.

Trainers and vets love the Gentle Leader as it is made by the respected company Premier, provides a safer and more relaxed experience, as it does not work by choking the dog.

Golden Retriever: Compatibility Issues

by Carol Matthews

In the beginning, Golden Retriever breeding can be almost impossible to achieve for the first time breeder and though you may be advised that there is nothing to it, often it can turn out to be more complicated than you may have imagined. In any case, it is never a good idea to breed unless you are absolutely sure of what it takes to breed these animals since it would be doing a great injustice to the breed if you did not exercise proper Golden Retriever care before indulging in breeding activities.

In any case, Golden Retriever breeding is not about making quick money and there is also a pressing need to exercise great caution and do all that is required for proper Golden Retriever care so that you are well equipped to handle the many problems that often arise should the breeding process not go as planned including dealing with congenital defects in your Golden Retriever puppies which must be avoided at all costs.
