To Beagle or not to Beagle - that is the question you’ve probably decided if you are reading this! But owning a Beagle, or any pet, means never having an end to questions. When you are trying to select a Beagle puppy, you need to ask as many questions as you can BEFORE you fall in love with the pup. In this way, you can be sure the puppy is healthy, sane and that you are compatible with Beagle behavior.

If you can’t go to a pet store, go to one of the many fine Beagle rescue centers that have purebred and Beagle mixes for adoption. The only reason you should buy a Beagle puppy from a Beagle breeder is if the breeder is in the local area or if you plan on showing and breeding Beagles. Beagle information sites usually don’t mention the long wait and high cost of getting a Beagle puppy. However, you are assured of a healthy, sane, purebred puppy with “tech support” from the breeder.

All About The German Rottweiler

by Sharon Davies

A German Rottweiler is simply a dog that is born in Germany while the American Rottweiler is born in the United States. But the two forms of Rottweiler’s do have a few big differences. After June 1998 the biggest difference between the German Rottweiler and the American Rottweiler is that the German Rottweiler has a tail. However, the two breeds are nearly identical in standard aside from the tail. So don’t be fooled by a backyard breeder who tries to claim that the size, heads, bone and temperament of Rottweilers are different between the German and American breeds.

The modern Rottweiler breed originally started in Germany, which came from an old breed of Roman drover dogs. Many US bred dogs are imported from Germany and today many of the Rottweilers are still bred in Germany. The biggest difference between the two forms of Rottweilers is the method of registration, tracking and breeding. However, there isn’t much of a difference when it comes to the dog’s appearance.

Does Your Golden Retriever Have Allergies

by Carol Matthews

From the time you got your Golden Retriever, you have loved the golden hair of your dog. But you don’t love it falling all over your car, furniture, foods or clothes, right? And having to ask the veterinarian about the persistent itching and biting problem is not a very uncommon problem for Golden Retriever owners. There may be a wide variety of reasons including infection, parasitical intervention and allergies. Primarily there are four major forms of Golden Retriever allergies. These are flea allergies, atopy, food allergies and contact allergies.

Flea allergies, also referred to as skin inflammation, occurs due to an allergic reaction to flea saliva. If this happens to your dog, the first thing you will notice on his body is a small red papule, which is gradually changed into a crust. The commonly affected areas are lower back, back legs, hind legs, upper thighs and belly areas. Flea allergies is one of the most common forms of skin allergies and when you find your dog is excessively scratching and itching, you can consider this as the primary symptom of Golden Retriever allergies.
